Maschine Brennt / Machine Burning
(Falco/Ponger)
Translation by Marjan van den Dikkenberg

When it was no so sad
Not even totally bad
One could laugh endless
I wanted to see for myself
who could still laugh
when his pants caught fire
yeah, yeah, check it out.
Itīs not so easy to report
Who and how
It happened just last year
and when I would be alive today
I could testify what really happened
It went like this:
We got inside
The first Class already there
and everybody's on a comfort chair
one Lady without a Lord
recognised me at once
and thought: "Rap that to the beat!"
I looked at her calmly
No sign of shyness there
The color of her nail-polish
fits her very well
I realised all too well
How it would continue now
I had other plans well planned
or maybe not.

Let me out, stop, go back!
Where is my parachute now?
Let me out, stop, one moment!
The last angel fled!
That is no wonder
because the maschineīs on fire

Airy, charming all over
when the steward said to him
"Donīt overjoy yourself"
He avoids the stress
When the stewardess
Takes him by the hand
and said:

"I can see very well
that the sky is blue
who knows how much longer
this blessing will hold
Then pity for the ones
who go out without a parachute
to a 11.000 M. fall to the ground.
